Job Title: Line Cook
Description: JOB SUMMARY Accurately and efficiently cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups and other hot food products as well as prepare and portion food products prior to cooking. Perform other duties in the areas of food and final plate preparation including plating and garnishing of cooked items and preparing appropriate garnishes for all hot menu items. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensure that Daily Prep List is complete and sufficient prep product is available for lunch and dinner service. Use Standard Recipe Card for preparing all products. Portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications. Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line station to assure a smooth dinner service. Prepare items for broiling, grilling, frying, saut ing or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating. Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment. Assumes 100% responsibility for quality and presentation of products served. Communicate with service staff verbally and through use of the 86 board. Use and understand point-of-sale system. Understand and comply consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking. Assist in serving, expediting and busing as needed. Maintain and take responsibility for clean and sanitary food preparation spaces. Follow all food safety practices. Do all dishes and clean kitchen area before shift is over. Experience A minimum of 6 months of food service or food preparation experience is preferred. Math Ability Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and taxes in the event the point-of-sale system is unavailable. Ability to properly count out change and fill out shift paperwork. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge or be willing to learn the point-of-sales system.
