Job Title:  Senior Clinical Research Specialist / Assessor - Center for BioBehavioral Research

Description:  JOB SUMMARY The Senior Clinical Research Specialist (CRS) is an advanced research position that involves a balance of clinical patient contact, research study coordination, grant, protocol and manuscript development (if applicable), qualitative or quantitative data collection or analysis and management of study data. This position may spend up to 30% of effort providing basic project management assistance to the Project Management team (i.e. retrospective study set-up, case report form development, etc.).This individual must have the ability to organize complex components of various research projects and clinical trials, including coordination of study required testing and procedures. In addition, the CRS is responsible for insurance pre-authorization for study participation, as applicable by study. If applicable, this position requires close collaboration with physician investigators to ensure safe and compliant investigational treatment or intervention and follow-up per the established research protocol. Critical thinking, self-motivation and direction, as well as autonomy are critical to the daily tasks that are carried out in partnership with the physician investigators and other members of the research team.Reviews inclusion/exclusion criteria and source documents to confirm study eligibility. Prepares case report forms and collects source documents for sponsor or audit review. Abstracts data from medical records, clinic, consultation and referral notes for preparation of study forms and flow sheets. Enthusiasm for learning is required as is participation in educating patients, physicians, nurses, and other personnel to the research process. Reviews protocol requirements and collaborates with ancillary departments (e.g., clinic nursing, infusion nursing, pharmacy, radiology, pathology, nurse navigators, dieticians, and laboratory personnel) to ensure subject safety and protocol compliance. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES The Clinical Research Assessor position will be responsible for the coordination of, and psychological assessment on, multiple clinical research studies in the areas of bariatric surgery, obesity, and eating disorders. Preferred education requirement is a Master s degree in clinical or counseling psychology with formal training in structured interviewing. Experience in clinical research is also preferred. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with researchers, clinicians, and research participants. Attention to detail, good organizational skills, and the ability to work independently are required. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor s Degree with 5 years of clinical research or relevant research experience, or Bachelor s degree with 3 years of clinical research and certification from either SoCRA or ACRP as a Certified Clinical Research Professional, or Master s degree in a health related field required.
