Job Title:  Ultrasound Technologist

Description:   POSITION SUMMARY The diagnostic medical sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. The sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease and new procedures as they evolve. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS 1.Licenses and Certifications Required ARRT(S), ARDMS, or CCI registered NDMIRTBE licensed 2.Educational Requirements General/OB/GYN Technologist: RDMS (AB and/or OB/GYN), or ARRT(s) Registered Technologist. RVT credential within two years from the start of the vascular ultrasound training process. Will be cross trained into vascular ultrasound if no formal vascular education has been completed. Echocardiography/Vascular Technologist: RDCS (AE). RDCS (PE) optional. RVT credential within two years form the start of vascular ultrasound training process. Will be cross trained into pediatric echo and vascular ultrasound if no formal education has been completed. Keep current compliance with continuing medical education (CME) requirements. 3.Experience Requirements Working knowledge of ultrasound procedures 4.Special Skills or Training Requirements Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or Cardiovascular Technology program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is preferred. New graduates considered. Utilizes tele-radiology equipment as needed Utilizes hospital information system and radiology information system as required for charges and proper patient status. Performs Ultrasound studies by independently scanning patient part as ordered. Provides Radiologist with Technologist interpretation Verbal ability Manual dexterity Spatial perception Numerical ability Ability to manage multiple priorities Ability to adapt and learn new protocols on new equipment as purchased Other skills as cross-training as needed to be defined by Department Director Provides Radiologist with technologist impression as needed
