Job Title:  Structural Engineer I

Description:   Position Purpose Assist in providing structural engineering services for KLJ projects in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner. Essential Functions Assist with structural design calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, shop drawings, reports and contracts Perform linear and nonlinear structural analyses Use software to prepare design documents Read and interpret construction plans and specifications Review and check structural design calculations Construction observation Ensure compliance with KLJ quality standards Utilize effective written and oral communication Responsibilities Assist with onsite structural assessments of existing structures Assist with the development of structural designs of retaining walls, bridges, buildings and other structures Assist with construction administration May assist with seismic evaluation of new and existing structures May assist with client management May provide support for coordination and communication with architects, engineers, sub-consultants and contractors Show increased advancement with design competency Develop an understanding of structural design codes and learn how to apply them May provide assistance for hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for bridges and box culverts Qualifications A four-year degree in engineering is required Experience level is 0+ years Travel is required, must have a valid driver s license and be able to operate motorized vehicles Preferences: An emphasis in structural engineering is desired Completion of the fundamentals of engineering exam is preferred Experience with Microsoft Office Suites, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit and RISA 3D is highly desired Master's degree in civil engineering with structural emphasis or related field is preferred Entry level or internship experience in commercial, retail, education or other architectural design experience is preferred Hours and Travel This position requires the individual work 40 or more hours per week. The typical percentage of time spent in the office is 80% and out of the office is 20%, however this will vary by project need. The salary for this position is expected to range from $55,305 to $67,595 depending on experience. All applicants must be authorized to work in the US.
