Job Title:  Safety Coordinator

Description:  SAFETY COORDINATOR Location: Fargo, ND At Houston Engineering, Inc. (HEI), we strive to provide a work environment that is engaging, fun, and safe. Please join us in this effort as a Safety Coordinator to evaluate business operations and create/maintain programs to promote employee safety and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. We are seeking the right candidate to fill this role. Therefore, this position can be established to be either fulltime or part-time (minimum of 25 per week on average.) This position provides a great opportunity to make a positive impact while working independently. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Administer and record safety committee meetings. Periodically provide timely safety content for the company s weekly newsletter. Perform safety inspections/audits at each office. Ensure hazard analyses are performed and properly documented. Administer the existing safety training program and provide recommendations for improvement. Prepare and deliver training classes as required. Work with various vendors to comply with client safety requirements. Maintain the Health and Safety Plan document. Perform random audits on project job sites. Administer drug testing programs. Inspect, update, and manage the inventory of PPE and other safety equipment. Maintain the internal web page for Health and Safety. REQUIREMENTS Minimum of an Associate degree a degree in a safety-related field is preferred. Five years of related safety experience preferred. Strong oral, written, and presentation skills. Strong editing and proofing skills. Valid driver s license with good driving record. Ability to occasionally travel (some overnight stays.) Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook) Strong team player and self-motivated with a positive attitude to promote the culture of safety. Demonstrated ability to manage time, multi-task, and research ambiguous and complicated regulations as they apply specifically to our firm s operations. Ability to work in an office environment as well as outside on project sites in potentially adverse weather conditions.
