Working with these people helps them to understand the importance of doing what may be the most important job of their lives-keeping others safe. I also get to work with younger kids teaching swim lessons. There is no greater reward than watching a child's eyes light up the first time they accomplish a skill." Swim Instructors teach high quality swimming lessons, making sure every minute counts towards learning and exploring in the water. Influence the lives of children, parents, and adult students by being modeling performance of water skills, water safety, and fitness. Assist the lifeguards in setting up the pool area for lessons. Recommend new ideas and changes to the Aquatics Director. Keep records of students and administer record keeping duties as outlined by management. Be responsible for and follow a written lesson plan for all lessons. Attend and be an active participant at staff meetings. Part Time, up to 29 Hours Per Week: Monday-Friday, 4:15 pm-6:00 pm Saturday, 10 am-Noon Excellent training program provided. No WSI or Lifeguard Certification required. No previous experience with swim instruction required. We are looking for someone who displays the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Must have a love for swimming and a desire to teach young children. Adequate knowledge of swimming skills and the ability to communicate how to perform these skills to the students. CPR Certification required. (The YMCA offers classes for employees).
